When our roads make way for people, our neighbourhood comes alive. Along the historic shophouses of Joo Chiat Road, our community gathers to share meals, celebrate local craftsmanship, and enjoy quiet moments of recreation together.
Initiated by the Katong Joo Chiat Business Association, Joo Chiat Street Social celebrates the living heritage and enterprise that define our precinct. By pairing vibrant street experiences with community vouchers, the programme directs thoughtful patronage into the workshops, eateries, and independent establishments that preserve our neighbourhood identity.
Every activity and pathway is open and accessible to all. We invite you to wander, explore our five-foot ways, and join us in honouring the people and stories that anchor Katong Joo Chiat.

Entry to Joo Chiat Street Social is completely free for everyone. A Community Pass unlocks welcome perks, while interactive activities throughout the day reward visitors with five-dollar vouchers to spend directly with our local shops.

A total of 1,000 complimentary passes is distributed through participating Joo Chiat establishments in the weeks leading up to the event.

Supporting our independent shophouse trades. Up to $5,000 in community vouchers will be won through games, heritage challenges, and workshops across the three zones. Participate in interactive challenges and community activities in any zone.
Pass redemptions are limited to one per guest while daily stocks last. Vouchers are single use, cannot be exchanged for cash, and any unused value cannot be refunded. Alcoholic beverages are restricted to guests aged 18 and above with valid identification.
With more than 80 local merchants keen to participate, Joo Chiat Street Social is shaping up to be an exciting event. Please keep checking our website for regular updates on upcoming activities and merchant offerings.
Yes. Entry to Joo Chiat Street Social is completely free for everyone. A Community Pass unlocks welcome beverage treats, and interactive challenges offer five-dollar merchant vouchers, but neither is required to enjoy walking the open street.
Companion animals are warmly welcome. Zone 03 near Dunman Road features an enclosed agility run, pet photo area, and community welfare booths. For the safety and comfort of all visitors, please keep dogs always leashed and clean up after your pets.
Joo Chiat Road will be closed to general vehicular traffic between East Coast Road and Dunman Road. Visitors are encouraged to arrive on foot, by bicycle, or via public transport.
By MRT: Alight at Marine Parade MRT Station (Thomson East Coast Line) or Eunos MRT Station (East West Line) and take a short stroll or connecting bus into the precinct.
By Bus: Services operating along Dunman Road and East Coast Road remain operational.
The Katong Joo Chiat Business Association works closely with relevant authorities to ensure pedestrian crossings and essential emergency vehicle corridors remain unobstructed throughout the afternoon and evening. Residents living along side streets can access their premises via designated detour routes manned by traffic marshals.
The event will proceed during light showers. In the event of heavy rain or inclement weather, outdoor street activities may pause temporarily while covered shophouse walkways and interior dining spaces remain open. Real time updates will be shared via our social channels.
